Science Alive Visits Room 10: An amazing afternoon of mystery & experimenting

There was a story at the start and a mystery to be solved. Who stole the boxes from Kate's shop?
In groups of 6 we set off to solve the mystery by starting with our Chemistry Kit. It was very exciting!

Room 10 Chemistry Scientist got busy testing all the different
powders we were given. There was much to think about!

Colour and texture were pondered over.
Acid and iodine were added. Results were recorded.
Kelsey our Science Alive teacher kindly heated our powders to show us how they react to heat.
We wore safety glasses to protect our eyes.
We all worked well together sharing the equipment
and experiment steps.

Just before hometime Kelsey showed us
how to make a rocket ship blast into the air using a plastic film canister. It was amazing!

.....and the mystery was solve by
working out that is was.......
DAVID who took the boxes and
left the message for Kate.

WELL DONE to all Room
10 Scientist! You all worked very hard!
Thank You Science Alive!

LMS Cross Country Recounts.......

Yesterday at 1:30 the Lower Middle Syndicate had their Cross Country. It was not easy for me. It was exciting to watch but it was not exciting to do. I felt very tired at the end. I did my best.

By Haylee ( I love your honesty Haylee! You are a star)

Yesterday the L.M.S. did their Cross Country and so did I. It was exciting. The Year 3 girls started and then the Year 3 boys went. And then it was the Year 4 girls and then the Year 4 boys.

We did a big course. We started at the rugby post and we got to run when Mr Ayers said "Go."
I ran as fast as lightning and we had to jump over wheels and I jumped over one hay bale. As I was making it to the finish line
I got  the stitch and it was really hot. I came 10th.

By Lindsey (Well ran & written about Lindsey.)

Yesterday the Lower Middle Syndicate did their Cross Country at 1:30. First the Year 3's walked over to their start line with Mr Ayers and the Year 4's walked over with Mrs Philips.
First the Year 3 girls went and then the Year 3 boys went 5 minutes later and then Mr Ayers walked over to the Year 4's and did the same.

When I had started I got the stitch but I walked through it. There were lots of people cheering you on. We had to jump over some tyres and some hay stacks.  After we jumped over the tyres there was a little hill. After the hill we jumped over the hay stack and then I finished!
I was so proud of myself. I came 5th. I also got picked up by my mum.

By Millie (Awesome details Millie)

On Thursday I saw my mum and dad at the Cross Country. I ran fast at it. I came 7th at it. My mum and dad were proud and I got a raffle ticket from Mrs Winton.
Then me and Ben walked around the track to pick up the cones but there was no cones!? The Juniors had picked them up!
When we went back to Room 10 we had quiet time. I went on a Cromebook and played Red Ball. I had a great day. I felt happy.

By Kobi (You were a fantastic helper Kobi. Thank you for also taking the photographs.)

Yesterday at 1:30 it was the day of the 2016 Belfast L.M.S. Cross Country. First we lined up and we went over to the court and Mr Ayers said where to run and the rules.
Then the Year 3 girls went over to the starting line and then the Year 3 boys followed then the Year 4 girls went to the starting line then the Year 4 boys.
I ran well and I came 5th. I pulled a muscle in my back and it is really sore.
By Devon (Fantastic recounting Devon. I hope your back feels better today)
