From Garden to Table: Room 10 made soup today from squashes grown in our school Garden

From our very own School Garden

We all took turns helping out in the kitchen.
There was a lot of chopping up
to do and recipe reading.

Back in the classroom scones were being made to
go with our soup. Here they are straight out of the oven,
Here we are lining up for our
soup and scone after a busy morning
working as a team.
Delicious!!

Term 2 Inquiry: Transforming Matter Room 10 student ask their own questions and find out the answers

Today Room 10 student asked their own scientific questions, made predictions, and carried out their own experiments.
What happens when you mix diet coke with fanta?
What will happen when  you mix together
oil, fanta and jellybeans

What happens if you mix flour with vinegar?
It turned lumpy!
What happens if you mix
sour patches and diet coke?
What happens if you mix melted chocolate
into diet coke then add sour lollies?

What happens when you mix paper, vinegar
and baking soda. We predicted it would
EXPLODE!
What happens if you have add food colouring
to water and put flowers in it?

What happens when you mix jelly beans
with fanta?

What happens when you mix
dishwashing liquid and ink together?
Zoe's white rose turning red.
And another one turning green.
Amazing!

Fractions Farewell Party for Miss Howarth

Yesterday we gave Miss Howarth a
Farewell Party using fractions as our theme.
While the pizzas were cooking we sang some fraction songs which help us understand fractions
Our fractions were divided up into eights so we
could all have a piece.

Our gluten free bagel options were
divided into halves.
After playing Fraction Loopy and Fly Swat
Fractions, we divided into teams and had
a jigsaw puzzle race.
Mrs Winton was impressed with
how well we worked as a team.
This team had the biggest challenge and never
gave up. Their perseverance paid off in the end.

Finished!
There were 30 jellies. What fraction
were orange?
8/30ths!
Then the green jellies were calculated.
And then it was time to share our
Fraction Party Food.

A great time was had by all and
it was fun bringing fractions alive in Room 10.
Thanks Miss Howarth for teaching us.
This party was made possible by
filling up our marble jar
over the last 5 weeks. We get marbles in the jar
by working  hard and
doing the right thing. Well Done Room 10! :)
